2006 Small Business Dividend$ Award Winner  Senator Bill Nelson |
Bill Nelson is a fifth-generation Floridian who has served the people of his home state for over 30 years as a state legislator, congressman, state insurance commissioner and now as a U.S. senator. He has and continues to take an active role in encouraging and supporting small business enterprise. Among the noteworthy accomplishments are his efforts in supporting full funding for the SBA's national SBDC programming, including the 7(a) program and veterans' initiatives; providing incentives in the form of tax credits for small businesses that offer health insurance to their employees, employ guardsmen, and Florida tax payers who pay no state income tax; advocating for Florida and the needs of small business following devastating hurricanes; and working to eliminate the estate tax on family farms and small businesses.
